Also, put parentheses ( ) around stage direction or notes about characters' facial expressions, tone of voice, etc.
Hospital Scene:
(Skyla and Naomi enter, Naomi pointing and saying Hi to people and sit down in the waiting room)
Skyla- I hate hospitals, they give me the creeps, (Skyla shudders)
Naomi- Why? Most people get better in hospitals.
Skyla- Well some don't. Naomi, can you talk louder? I can barely here you. I am straining my ears just to hear you. Where's the bathroom?
Naomi- Down the hall to the right.
Skyla- Hand me my purse Naomi, (Skyla takes off)
Owen- Naomi, aren't so glad that our mom finally to see us?!
(Naomi shrugs)
Owen-I mean, I hardly even know her but I feel like shes a part of me, you know?
Naomi-Yeah I guess. But maybe you should get to know a little bit more about her before getting really attatched.
Owen-And don't you love the smell of that perfume? It's a littler strong at first, but when you get used to it, it kinda smells like Gram's yummy rum cake!
Narrator- A few minutes later Skyla enters the room, her perfume smelling really strong.
(Naomi plugs her nose) Naomi-Yuck!
Skyla- It's just something that comes me down, to get through all of this stress.Mind your own business, like I said before.
Narrator- As you know, Skyla is an alcoholic, for her drinking is a way to calm her down. She has been to many rehab houses which are almost like hospitals, but at rehab they don't treat you kindly.
Skyla (in a weiny voice)- How much longer?!
Owen-Just a few minutes.
Owen-I know you just going to love Dr. Reed.
Sklya- Just a few minutes? Good. I can go scoot out to the restroom. Naomi hand me my purse.
Narrator- A few minutes later Skyla enters the room, and so do the doctors, her perfume smells stronger than before.
Dr.Reed- Hi. You must be Naomi and Owen's mother. Ms.Outlaw said that you would be here today. Let me introduce myself, I am Dr. Amanda Reed.I am orthopedist. I specailize in pediatrics.
Dr.Reed- And you must be Ms.Terri Lynn Outlaw
Skyla- Call me Skyla I find it ...... unrestpectful to call me Terri Lynn (put on a mad face)
Dr.Reed- (annoyed) Um ok Ms. Skyla Outlaw.
Skyla-(really mad) Its MRS. Skyla Jones!!!!!
Dr.Reed- (serious)But ma'm in your government papers it doesn't say your married.
Skyla-(walks closer to Dr.Reed) Well just call me Mrs.Skyla Jones or do you have a problem with that?
Dr.Reed-(takes a step away from Skyla) Ok ma'm,Owen please go to the playground.
Owen-Thanks Dr. Reed! See you next month! (Owen runs off)
Dr. Reed- Well as you know Owen is a FLK but he's doing just fine.
Skyla-(frowns)- Don't use those scientific words on me! What does FLK mean?
Dr.Reed- (smiles)FLK means Funny Looking Kid!
Skyla- (frowns)Is that some sort of joke?
Dr.Reed-(still smilling) No, no its actually a word us doctors say here.
Skyla-(says it in a mean way)Well can't you just call Owen a deformed kid? Thats what I would call him.
Dr.Reed-(stares at Skyla)Its not his fault he was born that way, it's not like if he wished he where deformed! I'm sure that you are already aware that Owen is a very intelligent smart young boy. As I am told, the best in his class.
Skyla-Its not brains I am worried about, but how will he get a future, looking like that!
Dr. Reed- When he is old enough he will have the final surgery which will make look "better" or, a NLK.
Skyla-Let me guess, a normal looking kid?
Dr. Reed- Yes, and a very smart one at that. If you'll excuse me I have another patient waiting for me. If you have any more questions to ask me about Owen here is my card (hands Skyla a card) Now I must be going! (smiles)
Skyla -Whatever. (Drops card and leaves.)
Dr.Reed- Excuse me Skyla, but I think you dropped something.
Skyla- (calm voice) No really I don't think so.
Dr.Reed- Bye! Maybe I will see you next month! Bye Naomi!
